Method and Tools

Design connects creativity and innovation. Design is never an artistic and creative gesture without rules, without clients, without design recipients, without respect for time and budget. Design must be measurable in its effects, in the results it produces. Design needs method and tools.

We have spent years studying what others have done before us, their theories, models, methods, and tools. We have done the same with the documentation produced in our projects over the last twenty years, from the first notes to the final deliverables, analyzing every single phase of the work carried out. We have developed and refined our own method for designing, implementing, and managing activities, a method that works because it is modular, adaptable, controllable, and measurable.

We have called this method, with its tools, PENTA, our own elaboration of the “Double Diamond” or ‘4D’ method widely adopted by many of our British, American, and Dutch counterparts. To this well-known method, we have added, or rather prefixed, a fifth “D” which, in our opinion, completes and enriches the method with a crucial initial phase.

We use and share the PENTA method with clients and partners, year after year, project after project, finding confirmation of its validity in stimulating, guiding, and simplifying creative and technical activities, especially in complex contexts.
